Antique Doll bisque Eduardo Juan Made in Austria
Antique doll with bisque head (porcelain) and antique composition body. The wig is natural and modern hair. The original eyes are glass and fixed. It measures about 51 cm. The dress and underwear made to measure following the old models.
On the back of the head it is marked with a number 1904 and Eduardo Juan Made in Austria, mold nº8. Doll attributed to the Aich-Menzel brand from Austria.
B.C. Angers founded an Austrian porcelain factory in 1848, in 1870 M. J. Moehling became the owner. The company appears to have changed ownership several more times and finally in 1918, the company was known as Aich, Menzel & Company, or Aich Porzellanfabrik.
1918 is also when the company began producing biscuit-headed dolls, most with composition bodies.
The number 1904 is the doll mold number, not the year the biscuit head was made. Aich doll brand Menzel A&M is often mistaken for Armand Marseille, so collectors refer to this company as the Austrian A&M doll brand.
