The Cellba brand
Celluloid products factory in Babenhausen: trademark “Sirena” of celluloid 1925-1960
To clarify, the Cellba company was founded in 1925 by Herren Schoberl.
Interestingly, From the beginning of production, celluloid dolls were produced in various versions, especially between the years 1929-31. The same company was in charge of production and assembly.
The first Cellba Firm dolls were with raised hair, painted or glass eyes.
A little later the entire celluloid dolls were created with the head fixed and the limbs movable.
On the other hand, Black and mulatto celluloid dolls were also made after 1933 as the funny Googly dolls with great expressiveness.
Subsequently, After World War II the Cellba company acquired patents for the joints of the legs and arms of the wrists made of celluloid. Like the various types of doll heads made of celluloid with glass and painted eyes.
Cellba’s trademark is the “Mermaid”. This symbol has changed over the years.
1st epoch between 1925 to 1935: The mermaid’s arms looked like the wings of a bird with separate feathers.
2nd period after 1935: the shape of the mermaid was simplified, the arms look like wings that are framed in a crown.
The Babenhausen celluloid factory continued to produce until the year 1955. However, In the last years, they only made plastic dolls imitating the celluloide models of the Cellidor and Tortulon brands.
