On his head he has the DEP mark and the number 10.
Many dolls feature the D.E.P brand: meaning Deponirt or Déposé. Mark used on German or French dolls that were established in the registry.
The Bisque was the material preferred by the French and German doll makers. They created Doll Heads from the mid-19th century through the 1930s.
It was a very versatile material and the second half of the 19th century witnessed a huge variety of designs. The eyes were initially painted, then glass, later sleepers or googly (they looked sideways)
