Celluloid Doll Schildkrot. Baby Doll, has painted eyes and textured hair without coloring. Her mouth is closed with a protruding tongue and a rosy cheek. This doll arrived in my hands in perfect condition, only the rubbers have been changed. It measures about 52 cm.
It has on the back of the body a drawing of a turtle and the words Schutzmarke and Germany. It has nº55. Doll attributed to the Schildkrot brand.
The Schildkröt company was founded in 1873 in Mannheim (Germany). From 1896 the first celluloid dolls were manufactured and the turtle brand was applied for. Therefore, Schildkröt is the oldest company that still produces dolls in Germany. Schildkröt’s manufacturing plants were in Mannheim until 1975, later near Munich and then in Kaufbeuren / Allgau. After the reunification of Germany, the company moved to Rauenstein in Thuringia. Celluloid doll designed and manufactured in Germany by Schildkrot (Rheinishch Gummi und Celluloidwaren Schildkrotwere).
