Guendalina of Famosa Doll. 1st generation doll, body and head are celluloid. This doll arrived in my hands in perfect condition. The tires have been changed. Eyes are original and pendulous and the dress is original. The wig is modern. It measures about 74cm.

FAMOUS DOLLS (Onil Group Dolls Factory, Limited Company)

With the aim of facing the changes that the introduction of plastic affects the local industry, Ramón Semper Quilis organized in 1957 a single company that brings together 24 workshops and auxiliary industries for the Onil’s doll, with the name of FAMOSA.

To begin with, between 1957 and 1964 the company registered different patents for the manufacture of wigs, mechanisms for the automatic movement of the eyes, new joints and movements of the bodiy and sounds of different dolls

The Guendalina

Similarly, the first big doll of the FAMOSA brand was the elegant Guendalina. It had a height of 74 cm and a stylized polystyrene body with a wasp waist.

Guendalina was made around 1958, which probably inspired by the doll Chelito, by the sculptor Sebastià Claver.

including hairstyle, it had different types of wigs, at first it was natural hair, but they replaced it with Tibetan hair, with multiple shades.

Generally, guendalina dolls have flexible wrists, as they are articulated by the neck, arms, hands, hips, upper thigh and feet. Being able to adopt different postures.

In addition to during the first years of the new company, materials were mixed in the manufacture of the dolls so it is was not always exactly the same doll, even if it was of the same series.

In this case, the 1st generation Guendalinas were made entirely of polystyrene like  the Guendalina of Famosa Doll

Guendalina of 2nd generation the body evolves into polyethylene.

As a result, they are easy to recognize, thanks to their flirty eyes (which turn from side to side), the expressive eyebrows drawn upwards, the mouth always open and red, with tongue and teeth in the upper area like the Guendalina of Famosa Doll.

To begin with, all the dolls have original earrings, many of them with pearl necklaces and they usually have painted nails and toenails.

For a while the two materials were mixed, at the start, the face was made of polyethylene as was the body but it eventually changed to being made out of plastic.
